Description

Everyone wins when children get excited about healthy, fresh food. How can we accomplish that? What if they actually helped design the menu, create the recipes and then help make the school lunch every day? If this happened, what would the school lunches consist of and would the kids eat their scratch cooked lunch? The purpose of this session is give attendees ideas and resources to implement change at their school cafeterias by creating healthy, fresh, scratch cooked foods.

Key Questions

1) What does ‘healthy lunch’ mean? 2) Healthy Snack—is there such a thing? 3) If I wanted to help—how can I help in the kitchen at school and home?

Expected Outcomes

Students will learn that they  can have input regarding school lunch, and how to provide that input.  They will learn how to make healthy food choices right in their own school.
