For this talk, we will be discussing the basics of a common form of 3D Printing known as Fused Deposition Modeling. This method of object creation is extremely popular in current 3D printer designs due to the ease of design, use, and cost to produce.
The machine used in this talk will be the Printrbot Simple Metal with Heated Bed. This is an affordable FDM printer that produces consistent prints of very high quality.
What is Fused Deposition Modeling?
How does a FDM printer operate?
What are the key components of an FDM machine?
What are the pros/cons of this technology?
What are the limitations, if any?
My desire is that the participants of this talk will walk away knowing the basics of FDM 3D printing and why the technology is useful.
